Located just a short 40 minutes outside of Minneapolis, The Berry Patch in Forest Lake is one of the best places for pick-your-own berries in the Twin Cities Metro.
The blueberries found on the bushes at The Berry Patch are always fresh, flavorful, and delicious.
You can head out into the fields and pick your own berries, either by the pint or the bucket, depending on how many you’re hoping to bring home.
They also offer pre-picked berries, so you can call ahead and have them ready to pick up and take home!
The goal here at The Berry Patch is always to provide pickers with a comfortable and fun experience and help protect the environment.
Earlier in the seasons, pick your own strawberries are available, and around the same time as blueberries, there are also raspberries for picking.
2. Lavaliers Berry Patch & Orchard
Location: Grand Rapids
Lavaliers Berry Patch is the local farm that I have gone to since I was just a little girl, and I have loved going strawberry picking and blueberry picking there.
Once you’ve arrived, you’ll head up to the farm stand and let them know that you want to pick your own blueberries.
The friendly staff will guide you into the berry patch and hand you a bucket to pick your fresh fruit with.
Pick until your hearts content, and then bring your delicious berries up to the stand to be weighed before you bring them home to eat.
Bake them into a pie, add them to your smoothies, or just eat them as is- no matter what, these berries in Northern Minnesota are fresh and tasty!
3. Marotz’s Berries
Location: Perham
Located just a short distance outside of Detroit Lakes is Marotz’s Berries, where you’ll find a smaller berry field to pick from.
At Marotz’s Berries, you can pick your own berries from their 1-acre field, where the berries are grown without any sort of insecticides.
They start being ready to pick at the beginning of July, just in time for all of the fun summer festivities.
4. Little Hill Berry Farm
Location: Northfield
If you’re searching for some delicious, organic berries to handpick for your family this summer, Little Hill Berry Farm is the place to be.
Located just 45 minutes south of the Twin Cities, Little Hill Berry Farm makes it easy to take a day trip from Minneapolis to pick.
It’s the perfect family-friendly way to spend a summer day out in the bursting fields of blueberries!
Head out into the fields with a bucket and pick their organic blueberries until your heart desires.
The berries are usually ready to go by the beginning of July, and they offer unique strawberries that are available later in the year.
5. Chub Lake Blueberries
Location: Carlton
If you’re living near Duluth and want to get out to do some blueberry picking in Minnesota, then Chub Lake Blueberries is near you!

It’s the perfect way to spend the morning, and then you have the most delicious snack to enjoy in the afternoon.

Stillwater is one of my personal favorite towns in all of Minnesota, and getting out at Blueberry Fields of Stillwater is one way to enjoy it!
Enjoy picking the berries in the town of Stillwater, which makes picking easy with their large and juicy blueberries.
Wander into the fields and find a row of fresh berries that fall right off into the bucket, just ready for you to take them home.
Berries are usually ready around the first week of July, and as always, it’s recommended to use the buckets that they provide.
They also do have some pre-picked berries, but the quantities are limited, so be sure to call ahead!
7. Roger’s Berries
Location: Brainerd
Found here in Central Minnesota, Roger’s Berries always has an abundance of blueberries ready for the picking!
Found in Brainerd, this is the perfect patch to visit if you’re located in places like Crosby, Nisswa, or Aitkin.
In past years, some of the berries here as grown as round as a dime, which usually means they’re very sweet and delicious!
Whether you’re heading in by yourself, with a friend, or you’re bringing your little ones, Roger’s Berries is perfect for Minnesota blueberry picking.
8. Berry Ridge Farm
Location: Alexandria
Found in Alexandria, Berry Ridge Farm sells some delicious blueberries in the southern half of Minnesota.

My favorite thing to do with fresh blueberries is to make a crispy blueberry crisp. It’s so delicious, and the berries here are perfect for making one!

At Brambling Rows Farm near Brainerd, you can enjoy fresh berries, including delicious and beautiful blueberries.

You can choose to either pick your own fresh berries, or you can visit the local farmer’s markets to enjoy Brambling Rows Farm’s fruit.
10. Blue Fruit Farm
Location: Winona
Another option to get some delicious organic blueberries in Minnesota is at Blue Fruit Farm in Winona.
Here you’ll find all sorts of blue fruits, as you would guess, from blueberries to black currants to honeyberries.
The first berries are typically ripening around the end of June and the first week in July, and the blueberries are ready to be picked by the end of July.
Winona is a beautiful place to visit, so if you’re searching for a place to get out not too far from the Twin Cities, this is the place to be.
11. JQ Fruit Farm & Orchard
Location: Princeton
Just shortly between Minneapolis and St. Cloud is JQ Fruit Farm and Orchard, which has a variety of fruits to offer throughout the year.
In the summer, you can go out and pick your own blueberries from their large field, where they offer 4 varieties of berries.
In the field, you’ll find over 10,000 blueberry plants spread out over 6 acres to pick, or you can choose from their pre-picked options.
They also have raspberries later in the summer and delicious apples in the orchard during the fall.
12. Gunflint Trail
Location: Grand Marais
While this location isn’t an actual spot to go and pick farm-grown berries, but the Gunflint Trail is great for wild blueberries in Minnesota.
Wild blueberries are fun to pick and you won’t have to pay for them, since they’re just growing on public land.
They peak around late July, and you can find them all over the Gunflint Trail near the small town of Grand Marais.
You’ll find the berries on small shrubs, and they often have berries that are much smaller than what you’d find at a farm or in a store.
But they taste just as delicious and make the most perfect blueberry pies for your summer get-together.
13. Blackbirds and Blueberries
Location: Cloquet
Another location for blueberry picking in Minnesota that’s near Duluth is Blackbirds and Blueberries in Cloquet.
Here you’ll find dozens of lush blueberry bushes that feature delicious and plump blueberries ready for picking.
Blackbirds and Blueberries offers pick-your-own berries and you can find some of the most yummy-tasting berries here! I’ve loved visiting this farm.
You can also choose to get pre-picked berries, which there are limited quantities of if you aren’t up for berry picking on your own.
